God Almightys' Relationship to the Christian

2 Cor 13:14 "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen."

No other verse in the bible will establish the divine principle of triunity as this one. That is, three in one; constituting a trinity in unity. This is a magnificent declaration of the Almighty to impart the splendor of the triune unity combined in grace, love and communion within the Godhead.

  • Our co-habitant:

The cohabitation with God exists with the saints who love Jesus the Christ and keep his words, Jn.14:23.

  • The Creator:

God's second creation of a woman, the bride of Christ, members of his flesh and of his bones, Eph.5:30. The first being Eve made from the bone of Adam, Gen.2:23.

We are God's building, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ being the chief corner stone, Eph.2:20-22.

We are God's husbandry and his building, 1 Cor.3:9.

We are a new creature in Christ created by God, 2 Cor.5:17; Gal.6:15.

  • Our Father:

    We are begotten by God, 1 Pet.1:3; 1 Jn.5:18.

Our Father has begotten us by his seed, his holy word, Lk.8:11

As new born babes desire the sincere milk of the word to grow thereby, 1 Pet.2:2.

  • Our sustainer:

God has given us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, 2 Pet.1:3.

All good gifts come from the Father of lights, James 1:17.

  • The forgiver of our sins:

God no longer remembers our sins from year to year as he did under the law of Moses, but remembers them no more, Heb.10:3, 17.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 Jn.1:9

  • His great promise:

This is the promise that he has promised us even eternal life, 1 Jn.2:25.

  • Giver of the new covenant:

As a result of the change of the priesthood from the tribe of Levi to Christ, by necessity there must also be a change of the law, Heb.7:12.

God finding fault with the first covenant (that is, the law of Moses) and the change in the priesthood to Christ, he established his new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, Heb.8:7-11; 10:16.

  • Creator of the new heavens and the new earth:

The prophecy of the new heavens and the new earth was made long ago by Isaiah, Is.65:17; 66:22.

The apostle John saw the new heavens and the new earth and new Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven. He plainly stated, the first heaven and the first earth were passed away and there was no more sea, Rev.21:1-2.

  • Creator of the paradise of God:

The tree of life is in the midst of the paradise of God for those to eat who overcomes, Rev.2:7.

The apostle Paul was caught up to the third heaven into paradise, 2 Cor.12:2-4.

Our Lord told one of the malefactors on the cross he would be with him that day in paradise, Lk.23:43.

  • The hope of the resurrection of the saints:

By the same Holy Spirit that God raised Jesus from the dead, he will quicken our mortal bodies from the dead, Rom.8:11.

  • Giver of the apostles to Christ:

God gave the apostles to Jesus out of the world and he prayed that they would one as he and his Father are one, Jn.17:6; 11-12.

  • Chosen as heirs of God:

As children of God we are heirs and joint-heirs with Christ, Rom.8:17; Gal.4:7.

  • Sender of the angels to be ministers of the saints:

The angels are ministering spirits sent to them who shall be heirs of salvation, Heb.1:14.

  • Our judge:

God is the judge of all and will judge whoremongers and adulterers, Heb.12:23; 13:4.

  • Rewarder:

God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him, Heb.11:6.

  • Giver of the Holy Spirit:

The Holy Spirit whom Jesus said would be given as the comforter to his diciples, but the world cannot receive him, Jn.14:16-17.

The Holy Spirit was not only given to his apostles and others, but unto all who obey him, Acts 5:32.

  • Giver of his seven spirits:

The seven spirits are the seven horns and seven eyes of God that are sent into all the earth, are found in Zech.4:10; Rev.1:4; Rev.3:1; Rev.4:5; Rev.5:6.

The seven spirits of God are listed in, Isa.11:1-2.

    The Spirit of the Lord
    The spirit of wisdom
    The spirit of understanding
    The spirit of counsel
    The spirit of might
    The spirit of knowledge
    The spirit of fear

  • The only God to be worshipped:

Unless God is worshipped in spirit and in truth, that worship is not acceptable, Jn.4:23-24.

  • God is our peace:

The peace of God passes all understanding and keeps our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus, Phil.4:7.

  • His children are sons:

Because we are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts crying Abba, Father, Gal.4:6.

  • We are reconciled to God:

God has reconciled us unto himself by Jesus Christ for the ministry of reconciliation, 2 Cor.5:18.

  • We live by the power of God:

As Christ lives by the power of God, so we also live with him by the same power, 2 Cor.13:4.

The Lord Jesus Christs' relationship to the Christian

  • Our co-habitant:

Along with his Father, Jesus will come in to a man and dine with him if he will open the door at his voice when he knocks, Rev.3:20.

  • Savior/Redeemer

Our citizenship is in heaven from whence we look for the Savior, Jesus Christ, Phil.3:20.

The appearance of our Savior Jesus Christ, has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 2 Tim.1:10.

We have been redeemed by the precious blood of the Lamb without blemish and without spot, 1 Pet.1:18-19.

Our Lord has redeemed us unto God by his blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation, Rev.5:9.

  • King of Kings:

Without any controversy, Jesus the Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords, Rev.17:14.

The blessed Jesus Christ and only Potentate and King of kings and Lord of lords, 1 Tim.6:15

The Son of man is sitting on the throne of his glory while his twelve apostles are sitting on twelve thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel, Matt.19:28.

When the end comes Jesus Christ will put down all rule and authority and deliver up the kingdom to his Father that God may be all in all, 1 Cor.15:24-28.

  • Our high priest:

Jesus was called of God a high priest after the order of Melchisedec, Heb.5:10.

Jesus Christ was made high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec, Heb.6:20.

Jesus Christ the high priest is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a minister of the true tabernacle, Heb.8:1-2.

  • He is the bridegroom of his wife the church:

John the Baptist is not the bridegroom of whom the bride wears his name, but the friend of the bridegroom, Jn.3:29.

We are married to Christ that we should bring forth fruit unto God, Rom.7:4.

We are espoused to one husband as a chaste virgin to Christ, 2 Cor.11:2.

We are members of his body, his flesh and of his bones, Eph.5:30.

Blessed are they who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb, Rev.19:9.

The apostle John was shown the bride, the Lamb's wife, Rev.21:9.

The Spirit and the bride say come, Rev.22:17.

  • Joint heirs:

We are heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, Rom.8:17.

  • Our helper in time of need:

He is able to succor us when we are tempted, Heb.2:18.

  • Jesus sings with us:

He says to his brethren that he will sing praises in the midst of the church, Heb.2:12.

Christ will confess to God among the Gentiles and sing unto his name, Rom.15:9.

  • Our advocate:

As we sin we have an advocate to the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous, 1 Jn.2:1.

  • Our appeaser to God:

He is the propitiation for our sins and for the sins of the whole world, 1 Jn.2:2.

  • Is preparing mansions in heaven:

In our Father's house are many mansions and the Lord has gone to prepare them for us in order that we may be with him after he comes for us, Jn.14:2-3.

  • Author of eternal salvation:

After our Lord was made perfect or raised to a state befitting him, he became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey him, Heb.5:9.

  • The testator of the new testament:

As Moses testament was not in force until after he died, neither was Christs'. Only after men are dead are their testaments of force, Heb.9:16-17.

By bearing one another's burdens we fulfill the law of Christ, Gal.6:2.

  • Christ is the head of the body the church:

Christ is head over all things to the church which is his body, Eph.1:22-23.

Christ is head of the body the church that in all things he might have the preeminence, Col.1:18.

  • The intercessor of the saints:

Our Lord ever lives to make intercession for all those who come to God by him, Heb.7:25.

Being risen from the dead, Christ is at the right hand of God making intercession for us, Rom.8:34.

  • Jesus Christ has all power:

All power in heaven and earth has been given unto him, Matt.28:18.

  • He is our peace:

Christ Jesus is our peace and has broken down the middle wall of partition between the Jew and Gentile, Eph.2:14.

  • His blood cleanses us from sin:,

If we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have felowship with one another and his blood cleanses us from all sin on a daily basis, 1Jn.1:7.

  • He is our life:

Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father but by me, Jn.14:6.

  • With a trump he will call us from the grave:

In a moment in the twinkling of an eye at the sound of a trumpet, we will be raised from the dead incoruptible and we shall be changed, 1 Cor.15:52.

The Lord shall descend from heaven with a shout and with the voice of the archangel and the dead in Christ shall rise first, 1Thess.4:16.

We look for the coming of the Savior who will change our vile bodies and fashion them like unto his glorius body, because he is able to subdue all things unto himself, Phil.3:20-21.

  • He has power over the devil:

Jesus took the power of death from the devil by overcoming death himself. He also delivered man from the fear of death who before all their lifetime were bound by fear of this great mystery, Heb.2:14.

Now is the judgment of this world and the time for the prince of this world to be cast out, Jn.12:31.

The Lord Jesus Christ has now brought judgment upon the prince of this world, Jn.16:11.

  • Has the keys of death and hell:

After being resurrected from the grave and overpowering death, our Lord said, that he has the keys of hell (Hades) and death to unlock the gates to enter at his will and to make any changes he so desires, Rev.1:18.

By the Spirit of God, Jesus went into Hades and preached unto the spirits in prison. The Greek word for preached is not in the area as an evangelists, but as an announcer who proclaimed that he now is Lord of lords and Kings of kings and has all power and authority in the heavens and the earth, 1 Pet.3:18-20.

Our Lord told Peter that he would build his church and the gates of hell (Hades) would not prevail against it, Matt.16:18. A gate or gates are something you may go in and out or you may be locked in or out. The gates of Hades could not prevent the Lord from entering anywhere he wanted to go.

  • The Alpha and Omega:

He is the beginning and the end, the first and the last, Rev.22:13.

Our Lord (the word, the Logos) was the creator of all things in the beginning and without him was not anything made that was made, Jn.1:3.

Our Lord began the heavens and the earth and he will end them as a thief coming in the night with fire and brimstone, Rev.3:14; 2 Pet.3:10.

  • Our Judge:

Jesus Christ is the righteous judge who will give to them a crown of righteousness who love his appearing, 2 Tim.4:8.

We will give account to him who is ready to judge the quick and the dead, 1 Pet.4:5.

Our Lord makes it very clear the words he has spoken will judge those who have rejected them, Jn12:48.

  • The fulness of the Godhead bodily:

In the fulness of time, Christ came to this earth made of a woman, made under the law and was made in the fulness of the triune nature of the Godhead as we have already discussed, Col.2:9.

  • The Master/teacher:

Jesus Christ is the Master (scholar) and if we study under his feet, we shall receive the highest of degrees, even the equivalent of a PhD, Matt.23:8-10.

  • Master/servant

The Lord is the master of his servants and it is very hard for some to wear two hats as they leave the business world and enter into the worship assemblies. Many members of the Lord's church who are in authority in this world cannot condescend to the authority of Christ and will not take off their business hat and put on the Lord's servant hat, Luke 17:7-10.

  • The revealer of the mysteries of God:

Revealed in the four gospels of Christ are mysteries kept secret from the foundation of the world, Matt.13:10-11; 34-35.

  • All spiritual blessings in Christ:

The spiritual blessings in Christ are countless. Presumptuous we are many times, seeing these are the greatest of all the blessings from God according as he has chosen us in him (that is Christ) before the foundation of the world, Eph.1:3-4.

The Holy Spirits' relationship to the Christian

  • Our intercessor:

Contrary to the belief of some, the Holy Spirit makes intercession for us with groanings that cannot be uttered, because the Lord who searches the mind of the Spirit knows our prayers in order that he may interceed to God for us, Rom.8:26-27.

Our spirit is the candle of the Lord searching all the inward parts of the mind. Our spirit relates to the Holy Spirit who relates to Christ, Prov.20:27.

It is stated here that after Christ rose from the dead, he is at the right hand of God also making intercession for us, Rom.8:34.

  • Our Teacher:

The Holy Spirit teaches us not in man's wisdom, but comparing spiritual things to spiritual, 1Cor.2:13.

The Comforter which is the Holy Spirit sent from God to the apostles, would teach and bring to their remembrance all things the Lord had told them, Jn.14:26.

When the Spirit of truth was to come to the apostles, he would show them things to come, Jn.16:13.

  • Will raise us up from the dead:

As mentioned earlier, we will be raised by the Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead, Rom.8:11.

  • Our Comforter:

The Lord said to his apostles that he would not leave them comfortless, but pray to the Father that he would send them another comforter. The Holy Spirit also is our comforter if we be led by him, Jn.14;15-18; Rom.8:14.

  • Abides with us if we do not quench him:

The apostle Paul briefly says in four words, quench not the Spirit, 1 Thess.5:19.

  • Performs the operation of God in the birth of a Christian:

We must understand the Holy Spirit of God renews all mankind whether fleshly or spiritual, Ps.104:29-30.

One cannot become a member of the kingdom of God except he be born again by his Spirit. That which is born of Spirit is spirit. Jn.3:3-8.

By one Spirit are we all baptized (or born) into one body, the church, 1Cor.12:13

We are born again not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, 1 Pet.1:23.

We are buried with Christ in baptism wherein we are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God. The Greek word operation is only used in the new testament to describe either a miraculous work performed by God or Satan, Col.2:12.

  • Reveals to us the deep things of God:

The Spirit of God searches the deep things of God and he gives them to us. As the spirit of man knows all things about him, no one but the Holy Spirit know the things of God, 1 Cor.2:10-11.

  • The earnest of our inheritance:

The Holy Spirit is the earnest of our inheritance which is eternal life until the redemption of the purchased possession of Christ, Eph.1:14.

  • We are sealed by the Holy Spirit:

We are sealed by the Holy Spirit as by a seal on a king's ring and that makes it official, Eph.1:13.

We are not to grieve the Holy Spirit whereby we were sealed until the day of redemption, Eph.4:30.

  • He makes qualified elders:

God did set some elders in the church at the beginning, 1Cor.12:28. The elders at Ephesus were made by the Holy Spirit, Acts 20:28. The Holy Spirit makes elders today, but unlike those installed in the early church. Only through the teachings of the Holy Spirit can one be qualified today, but many are not.

  • Led of the Holy Spirit:

If we are not led by the Holy Spirit, we are not the sons of God, Rom.8:14.

  • The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit:

Spirits are kindred and therefore they do communicate with each other, 1 Kings 22:18-23.

We know that we are the children of God, because the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are his children. In other words, he plainly tells us, Rom.8:16.

  • It is fatal if anyone commits blasphemy against him:

Jesus did not mince any words when warned whoever blashphemed the Holy Spirit would not be forgiven in this world or the world to come. Men have tried to undo the Lord's teaching on this subject and will answer in the day of judgment, Matt.12:31-32.

  • Imparted spiritual gifts to the early church:

Here we find nine spiritual gifts given to the church at Corinth, 1 Cor.12:7-11.

  • The writer of all of God's word:

The Holy Spirit is our witness of what he had said before concerning the promise of a new covenant, Heb.10:15-16.

The Spirit of God here speaks expressly regarding those who would depart from the faith, because of seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, 1Tim.4:1.

Peter plainly states that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. Why? Because holy men of God were moved as they spoke and wrote, 2 Pet.1:20-21.
